So I don't know if any of you have noticed, but there's been this new wave of R&B Rappers lately and I am loving it.
I feel like PartyNextDoor is the one who took the baton and initially ran with it but ever since then there's been a number of artists who have taken up what some like to call 'Sing Rapping'. Tory Lanez, Kehlani and now, my new love Bryson Tiller.
So I owe this new found love to Drake yet again. This is another artist he co-signed, praising his music and even going so far as to try and sign him to OVO Sound. Tiller didn't take the offer but that still was enough for me to want to go and check him out anyway. After I did, I fell for basically every song of his I heard. I made myself a CD for my car, made one of my best friends a CD for her car and pretty much played his music everyday. I still have to listen to his songs at least once a day and now that the full album is out I'm so excited for more people to get to know him!
So a little bit about Bryson: He's a 22 year old singer-songwriter out of Louisville, Kentucky. He started out with a mixtape called Killer Instict Vol.1 but he really got people's attention with a song that he released on soundcloud called 'Don't' .. it's actually one of my favourite songs.
In an interview he listed some of his musical influences as being The Dream, Omarion, Drake and Static Major ( you can listen to that interview here)and even mentions Soulja Boy as one of his inspirations in terms of how he came to be popular.
His debut album or mixtape as he likes to callit, TRAPSOUL was released on Oct 2 and I reeeeally recommend that you listen to it! I'll give you a little taste of what to expect with my top 3 songs from him down below...
1. Dont
2. Let Em Know
3. Exchange
