So i've been waiting for this song ever since Dean released a snippet of it on soundcloud a few days ago. If you follow me on twitter, you would've probably seen me spazzing out about it because the song is produced by Mr Carmack and esta. esta is probably one of my favourite producers at the moment. He's a part of Soulection - which is just a collective of really awesome talented artists ( I'll probably do a post on them really soon) and he always comes through with killer music and remixes of tracks that I already love. Mr Carmack has been catching my eye too. Ever since he released the song 'All In' with Kehlani, he's had my attention and everything I've heard from him since then, I've liked. But enough about the producers...
Let's start with Anderson Paak, he's the one I know more about. So he's a half black, half korean artist that used to go by the name of Breezy Lovejoy and I remember he had an EP called 'O.B.E Vol.1' which I messed with for a little while a couple of years ago. He dropped the name after a while and just started going by Anderson Paak. He released an EP called 'Cover Art' where he took popular rock songs from white artists and put his own funk/jazz type spin on them, saying he was inspired by the way white artists used to take all the credit for the black music they stole and copied back in the day. Nice.
Now Dean? He's a little more mysterious. I spent hours scoping the internet trying to find out information about this guy and there is very little intel about him personally. If you search his name it's mainly all about the music, which in a way is kind of cool.
Dean is a 22 year old South Korean Hiphop artist turned singer (from what I researched) and I don't know his journey, I don't know how he came to work with the people that he's working with but I'm grateful for it either way!
I first came across him on my favourite website; Soundcloud. It was after listening to his song with the R&B genius Eric Bellinger, 'I'm Not Sorry'. I loved the song so had to go and check out if he had any other music and he did. He had a song called Here & Now with the husky R&B singer Mila J (Jhene Aiko's big sister). I actually like Here & Now the tiniest bit more than the other track because it has this old school UK Garage sound and I LOVE garage.
The song 'Put My Hands On You' is so perfect. I can only describe it as that. It's gonna fit so perfectly into my vibes playlist and I know I'm gonna have it on repeat constantly! The accompaniment of the vocals and the production makes it such a great listen. Both producers have done remixes of the singers songs before; Mr Carmack remixed A. Paak's 'P.Y.P' and esta remixed Dean's 'Here & Now'. I hope that they all work together again in the future because I'm in love with the sound.
You should all follow Dean on soundcloud here and subscribe to his youtube channel here; you can watch videos of him working with different artists as well as hearing the music I've mentioned and new music that he'll put out in the future! In the meantime, listen to Put My Hands On You below!
