This album only came out hours ago but I had to get on here and tell you all about it because it's THAT good.
When Red Velvet debuted in 2014 with their unorthodox song 'Happiness', I'm pretty sure I hated it at first. Then I found myself singing it. Then I found myself repeatedly watching the music video. Then I found myself picking a favourite member and thats how I became the fan I am today. I love when they covered 'Be Natural' and fell even further in love with them when they released their mini album: Ice Cream Cake.
Now they're back with a full length album and after listening I can only say that I feel blessed! It's a 10 track album so to shorten time wasting and reading lengths I'm gonna list my top 5 songs down below!
NO.5 - COOL WORLD
I don't really know how to explain why I like this one. It just reminds me of simpler times somehow. It seems like something I would play on a long drive to somewhere. I don't know if you understand but thats just how it made me feel! I smiled when I listened to it so it made the list!
NO.4 - DUMB DUMB
The title track. Red Velvet always have really catchy and quirky title tracks and this one is no exception. The MV was eye catchingly different - you can watch that here- and the choreo was good as usual! At first I felt like it could do without the rap but as I've listened to it more I like it in there. The song has those brass instrument sounds that I despise but I didn't mind it for this song. Hopefully they'll be able to get a number one again with this track!
NO.3 - CAMPFIRE
Love this track! There's so many things that are right about this one. Wendy killed it with the vocals and I loved the way that Irene delivered her rap verse. The overall feel of the song is very funky and fresh and I could imagine some pretty dope SM ent choreography to go along with it.
NO.2 - TIME SLIP
We heard this on one of the album teasers and my friend pointed out that the beat sounds alot like Iggy Azalea's Fancy, which isn't a bad thing, Fancy was good song. But now I've listened, I like this one a lot better. Red Velvet seem to have a knack for catching me with these 90's R&B type tracks. They did it with 'Automatic' on their last album and they've done it again with one. With the chorus being the point of this song for me, it really makes it an endlessly playable track.
NO.1 - OH BOY
It was really hard to decide between this one and Time Slip but I'm a sucker for the piano so this one is definitely the winner. That's not the only reason though; I love how the girls sang on it, I love the melody, and I just found myself immediately wanting to sing along to it! This one gave me a nostalgic feel as well. It reminds me of another song but I can't figure out which one! Anyway, as I listen to it more I can't help but think this could've had a really awesome MV!
Bonus: My guilty pleasure track is 'Day 1' because to me it sounds like an anime soundtrack and I love it!!
Guys, listen to this album. I'm so proud of them! Consistency wise, they're doing really well with releasing good music which is something I feel like I'm really picky with when it comes to stanning girl groups. Hopefully they'll do well with promotions and I look forward to the live performances!
