K-Hiphop/R&B Newbie: Saero

Recently, a friend of mine sent me a link for an EP put out by an artist named Saero. I'd never heard of her before, knew nothing about her so I went in with next to no expectations, other than the fact that my friend told me she thought I would like her.

She was right.

The EP, titled "Relax your mind" is so divergent from what is being released in the world of popular korean music. Or at least I think so.

Saero, AKA Kim Minji has such an engaging voice to match her sound, which for me slightly resembles the early works of Amel Larrieux.

I went snooping for the lowdown on this pretty chick but didn't find much, what I did find out is that an artist name Tricky produced this EP. Tricky recently released an EP of his own, with Saero featuring on two tracks as well as another female artist I'm fond of called Heize. He's also worked with underground rapper MINOS and produced for Teen Top.

I hope this won't be the last we hear from Saero. I'm really feeling her voice and I'm already imagining the people I want her to collaborate with!

My favourite track from the EP is track 3: 나 요즘, which I THINK translates to "Lately, I". The guy that features is called Ant. I don't know anything about him, so if anyone does be sure to let me know! I also love the piano version of Rollercoater because it really highlights her vocals.
