So after an anticipated wait, Miguel finally released his third album "Wildheart". Okay, so if you're a fan of Miguel, you know that Kaleidoscope Dream was extremely successful, with a bout of gems including the ever so popular "Adorn".

I've always liked Miguel. The stuff off his first album was gold, (Sure Thing, All I Want is You, Quickie etc..) and I loved the second album so much that I went to see him on his UK tour which was hands down the best concert I've been to. With all that being said, when an artist has had a successful album, there's always that pressure with whether they can deliver again. With this album, I'm gonna say Miguel ... didn't. If you're a stan, don't hail me with stones yet - it's still a good album. I just think my expectations were a little too high and he took in a completely different direction than I thought he would. That being said, an artist has to change and expand and has every right to experiment with their art. I'll probably do a favourites post on the album somewhere along the line, and if I were you, I'd still listen. Like I said, it's a good album.

NOW. Onto the controversy.

So, I was on twitter as I usually am and the TL (timeline, for you newbies) was in a ruckus about something to do with Miguel and Frank Ocean. Now, me being a huge fan of both artists, I had to check it out and see what was going down. I thought it was the twitter usual- someone tweeted their opinion and everyone had responded with their two cents, but nooooooo. It was Miguel they were responding to.

Imagine my face as I opened an article titled; Miguel on Frank Ocean: "I make better music."

My initial reaction was: BOY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

Why would he say that? This isn't the first time Miguel has been a little shady towards Mr Breaux. If I remember correctly, when Miguel lost to Frank at the grammy's for Best Urban Contemporary Album, he opted to act like a Sour Sally and remained seated instead of standing up and clapping when Frank went up to collect his award.

As I sat and watched most of my TL roast Miguel, I tried to think to myself who actually makes better music, and in the end I refused to rank them. Both of them are very different as Miguel even said himself. In the interview they asked him what he thinks of Frank being labelled as 'R&B's complex trouble man' and he responded, "Frank is the tortured. That's his thing. That's not who I am." So even he himself knows. I think that they're style of music is just different, thats the only way I can describe it. From the music itself, to the lyrical content, even down to the way the music makes you feel. To compare them is ... well, it's bound to start some drama, lets put it that way.

I'm all for self confidence and believing in yourself and he SHOULD feel that his music is better than anyone else's to be honest, but for goodness sake Miguel, WORD IT BETTER. Also, I couldn't help but think that it was a little bit of a PR stunt. I mean, his album JUST came out and Frank Ocean's is rumoured to drop any day now ...

Anyway, let's hope that Frank Ocean doesn't feel the need to respond, I'm sure he's far too busy preparing this sophomore album after a 3 YEAR HIATUS. And Miguel, just keep slaying us with your voice and music and leave it at that! Listen below to the title track from Miguel's new album, it's called Coffee.

x'o
